How To Upload Your New Canvas Video onto Spotify

In this article, we look at how to preview and download your Spotify Canvas Videos made with Tuneform, as well as how to upload your canvas through Spotify For Artists

After you've used the Tuneform Spotify Canvas Maker tool to create a Spotify Canvas video, it's very simple process to get your video onto Spotify.

First things first, preview your video to make sure you're happy with it. You can do this in the "Canvas Videos" section of your account. Regardless of whether you're on mobile or desktop, you'll be able to preview your looping video first on Tuneform. If it looks good, you can move onto downloading the video.

On desktop, the download button will appear next to the video thumbnail. If you're on mobile, you'll have to click the thumbnail image to reveal the download button. Hitting the download icon will save the video to your computer or device, and should be relatively fast as videos rarely go above 20mb. Note, if you're on iOS, you may need to hard press and hold on the download button to reveal the "save file" option.

You'll notice that your video is very short (3-8 seconds depending on the style you choose). This is a requirement for Spotify Canvas. All the videos you make through Tuneform will form seamless loops, and Spotify will handle the looping of your canvas video, so there's nothing extra you have to do to your video once you've downloaded it.

Once saved, it's now time to log into your Spotify for Artists account. This is a necessary account to have in order to upload your canvas video, so if you don't have access, you may need to contact your music distributor to set it up.

Now there's two different ways to upload your canvas to play with your music. On the Spotify for Artists website, you'll have to navigate to your releases, and look for the canvas button. Once you find this, you can upload your canvas in the UI prompt and be on your way.

On the Spotify For Artists mobile app, you'll have to go to your profile, then click your releases to expose the option to upload your canvas.

After this, the canvas will upload, and will then be distributed worldwide to all your listeners.

The nice thing about Spotify Canvas is you can update and change your canvas videos any time you want. This is unlike traditional cover artwork, where you are can't change it after the release has gone live. This means that at any point, you can create new or different canvas videos and easily update it for your listeners whenever you want.
